Canada has achieved their first victory at the Billie Jean King Cup, and the team is ecstatic about it. A video captures the moment of their triumph.

In a historic victory, Canada defeated Italy with a score of 2-0 to claim their first ever Billie Jean King Cup. Leylah Fernandez and Marina Stakusic both won their respective singles matches, contributing to Canada’s win. Stakusic, who is ranked 258th in the world, secured the first point for Canada by defeating Martina Trevisan, ranked 43rd, with a score of 7-5, 6-3. This was the biggest win of Stakusic’s career. The second point was secured by Fernandez, who beat Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-3 at La Cartuja Stadium. Fernandez, ranked 20th and runner-up in the 2021 U.S. Open, had a perfect record in Seville with four victories. On the other hand, Stakusic, an 18-year-old with no previous wins against top 100 opponents, earned three wins while representing Canada in Spain.
