On Wednesday, Chelsea, a team in the English Premier League, announced that João Félix, a forward for Atlético Madrid and Portugal, will be joining them on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Félix expressed his excitement to join Chelsea, one of the top teams in the world. He hopes to contribute to the team’s success and is thrilled to play at Stamford Bridge. These sentiments were shared in a statement released by the club.
The 23-year-old joined Atlético in 2019 for a record-breaking transfer fee of $142 million (126 million euros). During his time with the La Liga team, he had a total of 131 appearances and scored 34 goals, making him a valuable player. This transfer was the fifth most expensive in football history at that time.
Félix has played for Portugal in 28 matches and scored a goal during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Félix makes his way to Stamford Bridge, where the team, led by coach Graham Potter, is currently struggling and holds a 10th place spot in the Premier League standings.
