The nominees for the 2024 Grammy Awards are dominated by female artists, with SZA leading the pack.

Next year’s Grammy awards will be dominated by female artists, with SZA, Phoebe Bridgers, Victoria Monét, and Taylor Swift taking the lead.

SZA has received a total of nine nominations, the highest among all artists, for her album SOS and its accompanying songs in the categories of pop, rap, and R&B. Out of her 14 previous nominations, the singer has won one Grammy award. She is vying for the record of the year award against Billie Eilish, boygenius, Jon Batiste, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Victoria Monét.

Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and mixing engineer Serban Ghenea each have seven nominations. Monét is also up for best new artist along with Ice Spice and Jelly Roll.

In the categories of song and record of the year, the majority of nominees are female, with Batiste being the only male nominee in both. Batiste was the recipient of five major Grammy awards in 2022.

If Swift takes home the award for album of the year, she would make history at the Grammys with a record-breaking fourth win in that category. Rodrigo, who has three Grammys under her belt, earned six nominations for her album GUTS and the track Vampire.

The Barbie album has received 12 nominations and features songs from Eilish, Nicki Minaj, and Dua Lipa. The soundtrack has dominated the category for best song from visual media, with four out of five nominees coming from the album.

Other nominees outside of the music industry include Meryl Streep, Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders, and Dave Chappelle for awards in audiobooks, storytelling, or comedy.

In the current year, three additional categories have been introduced: top performance in African music, top album in alternative jazz, and best recording in pop dance. Kylie Minogue and Troye Sivan are both contenders for the best pop dance recording award.

Some notable omissions include Morgan Wallen, a country singer who received only one nomination for his song “Last Night” in the category of best country song. Despite spending 16 weeks at No. 1 in the US this year, Wallen was not recognized in other categories.

In the beginning of this year, Beyoncé achieved the title of most awarded artist in Grammys history by winning four awards at the 65th ceremony, bringing her overall total to 32. Harry Styles was also recognized, winning album of the year for his album “Harry’s House.”

The 66th Grammy awards ceremony is scheduled for February 4th, but the host has not been announced yet.
