The highly anticipated Amy Winehouse biopic, Back to Black, has released its full trailer following a brief teaser trailer in January.
Marisa Abela stars as Winehouse in the film Back to Black, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and written by Matt Greenhalgh. The cast also includes Jack O’Connell as Winehouse’s boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil and Eddie Marsan as her father Mitch.
In 2011, Winehouse passed away at her residence in Camden, London. In 2015, director Asif Kapadia created a documentary about her professional journey. In 2018, the Winehouse family entered into an agreement with producers Monumental to produce a film. The filming process was finalized in 2023.
Anne-Marie Speed, a performance coach, recently discussed the pressure on Abela as she played the role of Winehouse. She stated, “The preparation for this role is a full-time commitment, similar to that of an athlete. People often overlook the physical demands of producing a strong vocal performance.”

The UK release date for Back to Black is scheduled for April, while the US release will be in May.
