The manager of Chelsea, Emma Hayes, will depart from the team after the end of the Women’s Super League season. According to a statement from the club, she will be seeking a new opportunity outside of the WSL and club football. This announcement comes after Chelsea’s 6-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.
Since 2012, Hayes has been a part of the club and has achieved six WSL titles and five FA Cup titles, solidifying Chelsea’s position as one of the top teams in Europe.
In the past, she has been connected to the role of coaching the United States national team. According to Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, they would not hinder her if she decided it was time to take on a new opportunity, considering her significant contributions and impact during her more than ten years with the club.
Emma will have ample opportunity to be recognized for her numerous accomplishments at the club and to bid farewell in a deserving manner. However, at present, Emma’s main priority remains leading Chelsea to a successful season, as she always has.
On Saturday the Blues had six different players on the scoresheet as they hammered Aston Villa 6-0 to go top of the table on 13 points after five games, three ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who face Arsenal on Sunday.
