Quaker Oats has extended its recall of granola bars and cereals due to a potential risk of salmonella contamination.

The Quaker Oats Company has expanded their previous recall from December due to concerns of salmonella contamination. They have now included an additional twenty-four varieties of granola bars, cereals, and snack foods in the recall.

On Thursday, the company, owned by PepsiCo, declared an additional recall in the United States and Canada.

The extended recall encompasses Quaker Chewy Granola Bars and Cereals, Cap’n Crunch Bars and certain cereals, Gamesa Marias Cereal, Gatorade Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Bars, Munchies Munch Mix, and snack boxes that contain any of these items.

The FDA has received 24 reports of negative reactions to the products that were recalled, but there have been no confirmed cases of illnesses associated with these foods, according to a spokesperson from the agency on Friday. These adverse events can involve medical issues, as well as concerns about the taste, appearance, or packaging of a product. The FDA will continue to look into these reports.

Infections from Salmonella bacteria can result in symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In some uncommon instances, the infections can lead to death.

Customers should inspect their storage areas for any of the items mentioned and discard them. The recall site of the company provides further details and information on reimbursement.
