The family of Panamanian 72-year-old, Roberto Durán, announced on Saturday that he is undergoing treatment for a heart issue.
According to a statement on Durán’s Instagram account from his family, the former champion in four weight classes is currently experiencing a health issue related to atrioventricular blockade.
“We are anticipating the results to be able to share further updates on his condition,” the statement went on to say. “We express our gratitude to our family, friends, and all those who are offering prayers and support.”
According to a post on social media by WBC president Mauricio Sulaimán, Durán is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Panama.
“His family is joined by the world in prayers for his successful and prompt recovery, he is a champion and will win this fight,” Sulaimán said in the post on X, formerly Twitter.
