Dressed in a bright yellow vest, young Efruz maintains his balance at the front of the surfboard as foamy waves surround him and his friend, gliding over the waters of the Pacific Ocean near Peru.
Efruz, a Jack Russell terrier, is frequently seen during the hot summer days of the southern hemisphere at the age of four.
Mauro Canella, a surfing instructor at San Bartolo beach, located 30 miles (48.3km) from downtown Lima, shares that his pet has a fondness for the ocean.
Reworked: Canella states that they started surfing as a team approximately one year ago. They are not the sole pair of dog and human riding the waves in San Bartolo, as there are typically a dozen or more spotted during weekends.
Although Efruz gets cold as the hours go by, he appears to enjoy his new sport, planting himself at the front of the board while Canella crosses the waves standing, kneeling or lying flat.
Just like any surfer, both dog and owner may sometimes get thrown into the water if they don’t successfully navigate a wave.
