A 32-year-old British soldier passed away while not on active duty in Kenya.


The Ministry of Defence has reported that a British soldier passed away while not on duty in Kenya.

32-year-old Maj Kevin McCool was on a motorcycle journey outside of the military base when he was assaulted. According to the Ministry of Defense, he passed away on November 29, but no further information will be disclosed. His family has been notified.

Grant Shapps, the UK’s defense secretary, expressed his condolences over the passing of Maj McCool, calling it a devastating loss. He stated that based on the tributes from those who knew him, Maj McCool was an outstanding individual and soldier who was highly regarded and beloved. He also noted that Maj McCool served his country with great honor.

His physical fitness was highly regarded, as he even outran the entire battalion in a two-mile race and had exceptional endurance.

His superior stated that McCool was enjoying his life to the fullest, working a job he was passionate about, surrounded by loved ones.

He stated, “I will always remember the last time I saw him during operations. He had just finished working after only getting a few hours of sleep in several days. We talked about the potential of sending another team into the intense environment he had just experienced. He interrupted me, looked directly into my eyes with his piercing blue gaze, and confidently declared, ‘I am ready to go.'”

“We have lost a shining member of our group. He will be remembered fondly, and his memory will live on.”

The leader stated that McCool was the most exceptional among us, and praised his courageous and determined nature. His eyes reflected a sense of adventure and determination. He was a true explorer at heart, always putting others before himself. He was intelligent, proactive and selfless, finding his greatest fulfillment in serving others and overcoming challenges.

During his time as a soldier, he displayed bravery and skill during operations. As a leader, he possessed a captivating personality and charming demeanor that endeared him to everyone he met. And as a person, he showed great humility and wisdom that surpassed his age.
