The Hull area authorities are currently conducting a search of funeral parlours due to concerns regarding the treatment of the deceased.

Authorities are investigating several funeral homes in Hull and the nearby vicinity following a report of negligence in handling deceased individuals.

A hotline is now available for individuals concerned about the care their family members may be receiving at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors.

On Friday, cordons were set up outside of Legacy’s three locations in Hull and Beverley. This was due to a call received by Humberside police on Wednesday evening voicing concerns about the treatment of deceased individuals at these branches.

A high-ranking official advised the public to refrain from making assumptions in order to shield possibly grieving and shattered families. Detectives are currently determining if any crimes were committed at the location.

“According to Humberside police, investigations have been conducted to determine the specific information, issues, and circumstances. Police cordons are currently set up and officers are at three funeral service locations in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, due to a report of concern for the handling of deceased individuals.”

There are multiple actions that constitute unlawfully handling a deceased body, such as impeding a proper burial, causing public disruption, obstructing legal proceedings, and extracting human tissue without permission.

Simon Gawthorpe, detective for the DCS, stated that although the investigation is still in its initial phases, he acknowledges that this information may cause worry for many families and individuals who have used this business and have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Our investigation has involved reaching out to various individuals, and we are collaborating closely with His Majesty’s coroner, Hull city council, and East Riding council to uncover the truth.

“Please feel free to contact us via phone, as we understand the potential distress this situation may cause. We have a dedicated line set up for those who have concerns or would like to speak to us about Legacy Independent Funeral Directors.”

As we continue our investigation to determine the exact circumstances and any potential criminal charges, I respectfully request that people refrain from speculating. This is a sensitive matter that may involve families and loved ones who are already experiencing heartache and devastation. It is important that we give them the support and respect they deserve during this difficult time.
