A total of eleven individuals were transported to a hospital following a fire that ignited at a renovated house with adjoining properties in the exclusive South Kensington area of London.
Approximately 100 firefighters and fifteen fire trucks were dispatched to extinguish a fire at a converted terraced house, located near the Natural History Museum in the south-west region of London.
The London Fire Brigade announced on X that eleven individuals received medical attention for inhaling smoke and approximately 130 residents were forced to evacuate from the building where the fire originated, along with nearby structures.
According to a spokesperson from the London ambulance service, the wounded individuals were transported to “hospitals in London and major trauma centers”.
The authorities reported that the scene was attended by 15 fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters. It was noted that half of the ground floor of the building was on fire.
“The Station Commander, Steve Collins, reported that the fire has progressed from the first level up to the highest level and the roof of the building.”
The crews are putting in a lot of effort to limit the [fire] and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
“Due to road closures, the area is expected to experience heavy traffic during the morning rush hour. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes. Fortunately, train services will not be affected and will operate as usual.”
The reason for the fire is still unknown.
