An investigation into a murder has been initiated after a recently born infant was discovered deceased in Ipswich.


Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a newborn baby was found outside a premises in Ipswich. Suffolk constabulary said two men and a female were in custody for questioning after being arrested.

Police were summoned to a residence on Norwich Road around 12:30pm on Saturday in response to a report of a deceased baby. Emergency medical services arrived on site, but the child was pronounced deceased.

The Suffolk police announced that the death is being considered unexplained and is currently being investigated.

“The death of this baby is a tragic and upsetting event. Our investigation into the details of the incident is currently in its preliminary stages,” stated Jane Topping, the detective chief superintendent of the force.

The authorities reported that a police barrier was set up on Norwich Road while investigations continued.
