Authorities are currently conducting a search for suspects following reported incidents of crossbow attacks, which resulted in injuries to a woman and a man in the east London area.
The Metropolitan police stated that the events took place in Shoreditch spaced 10 days apart, but were connected.
On Monday 4 March, at approximately 7:45pm, a female aged 44 was struck in the head by a crossbow bolt while crossing a road in the vicinity of Clifton House in east London.
On Thursday, March 14 at approximately 7:25pm, a 20-year-old male received a neck injury from a crossbow bolt near Arnold Circus, which was about 60 meters away from the location of the initial attack.
Authorities stated that the individuals had been discharged from the hospital and did not sustain life-threatening or life-altering injuries. There have been no other occurrences like this reported.
The officers were engaged in immediate efforts to identify a suspect. Additional officers will be sent to the area during the weekend to gather information and offer reassurance.
DCS James Conway, who is responsible for policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, said: “There are significant efforts to find whoever carried out these assaults, and we are committed to keeping the community updated over the coming days, as we know how worrying this is.”
He stated that a group of CID detectives, local law enforcement, and specialized officers were pursuing various leads, such as identifying witnesses, examining potential CCTV footage, and analyzing forensic evidence.
The officer stated that they were seeking input from members of the nearby community.
