Stefanos Tsitsipas shared his goal to gather a significant amount of money to assist with the recovery and rebuilding efforts in Acapulco after the destruction caused by Hurricane Otis in October. Tsitsipas, who is competing in the Mexican Open, has committed to donating $1,000 (£790) for each ace he serves during the tournament.
The strongest hurricane ever recorded on Mexico’s Pacific coast hit Acapulco, resulting in more than 50 fatalities. The storm had wind speeds reaching 165mph (270km/h) and caused immense destruction, with numerous houses and sources of income being wiped out, amounting to billions of dollars in damages. Tsitsipas expressed his desire to help and support a large number of people. He believes in the importance of compassion and considers it a natural part of being human. He hopes to continue his efforts in the future.
