Jordan Thompson from Australia had an extraordinary victory at the Los Cabos Open, defeating Casper Rudd 6-3, 7-6 (4) to claim his first ever ATP Tour title. Despite entering the tournament ranked at an impressive No 40 in the world, Thompson’s win will propel him even higher to No 32. In an impressive display, the 29-year-old defeated fourth seed Ruud in the final, following his previous upset over top seed and world No 6 Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. Reflecting on his remarkable journey, Thompson stated, “I have spent countless hours on the court this week. In the quarter-finals, I was facing the possibility of a quick loss, but now I am holding the trophy. It truly feels like a miracle.”
