Alex de Minaur dominates Casper Ruud to retain his title at the Mexican Open.

Alex de Minaur has once again shown his strong start to the season as he successfully defended his Mexican Open title, defeating Casper Ruud in straight sets. This has been a great achievement in his promising career.

On Sunday, de Minaur, who was seeded third, defeated Norway’s three-time grand slam finalist in one hour and 57 minutes with scores of 6-4 and 6-4, earning his eighth ATP title and his first one of the year.

Known for his exceptionally quick reflexes and unyielding rapid strikes, the ninth-ranked Australian player secured his most recent win with a dominant performance in serving.

In just 52 minutes, De Minaur only lost five points on his serve and was able to win the first set. He was able to secure the set with a break in the third game.

He displayed exceptional precision with his initial serve, only losing two points after executing it at the beginning of the rally.

The 25-year-old player won against fifth-seeded Ruud by breaking his serve twice, earning the Mexican Open title for the second year in a row. This achievement puts him in the company of previous winners David Ferrer (2010-2012), Nicolas Almagro (2008-2009), and former world number one Thomas Muster (1993-1996).

De Minaur was participating in his 16th ATP Tour final, his second of the year, following a defeat to Australian Open titleholder Jannik Sinner in Rotterdam just last month.

It was an unusual loss against the top performers on the tour.

De Minaur has already defeated seven top-15 players this year, even though it’s only March.

I will skip the advertisement for the newsletter.

He defeated the top-ranked player Novak Djokovic, as well as Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz during the Australian summer. Since then, he has also triumphed over Andrey Rublev, Stefano Tsitsipas, Grigor Dimitrov, and the 12th-ranked Ruud, expanding his list of defeated opponents.

De Minaur’s triumph in Acapulco comes after fellow Sydneysider Jordan Thompson’s first-ever ATP title win last week, also in Mexico’s Los Cabos.

Thompson also rejected Ruud in the ultimate round.
