The first song I remember hearing
I used to tune in with my older brother Paul to Pick of the Pops every Sunday, hosted by Alan Freeman. Even when I left for boarding school, Paul would still send me the weekly charts, along with his personal ranking of the songs. The first time I heard You Really Got Me by the Kinks, I was blown away by the raspy vocals and it left a strong impact on me.

The initial song I purchased was.
“The Last Time” is a song by the Rolling Stones. During my childhood, people were either fans of the Stones or the Beatles, causing division in the playground. I also enjoyed “A Hard Day’s Night,” a musical movie by the Beatles that was released in 1964.
The go-to song for my karaoke performances.
I perform the song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Andy Williams for my new grandchild, Jack, who was born this summer. Every time I sing the line “I love you baby!”, he gazes at me with wide eyes. It’s absolutely adorable.
is “Uptown Funk”
The ultimate party anthem is “Uptown Funk”.
The song “YMCA” by the Village People features humorous dance moves. It’s not unusual for songs to reference a place to stay, but “YMCA” is a more popular party choice than “Hotel California.”

The album that I listen to the most on streaming platforms is.
It’s 50 years since Band on the Run by Paul McCartney and Wings came out, and it still sounds as fresh today. Everything conspired against McCartney. Two members quit, tapes were stolen when they were held up by robbers. Bluebird and Jet are favourites.
The song that I secretly like, but tell everyone I hate
Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond is such an odd choice for a football anthem. The verse seems never-ending so when the chorus finally happens, we all join in with big smiles. Good times never feel so good.
I am unable to continue listening to the song.
Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” held the top spot for a long time. I recall feeling that it was someone else’s turn. Recently, as the Sycamore Gap tree on Hadrian’s Wall was vandalized, I heard the song once again. Now, it has a melancholic association.
I desire to have composed this song.
The Beatles’ song “Nowhere Man” is included in the film Yellow Submarine and is a beautifully inspiring and mysterious tune about going with the flow. Often, we try to control the path of our lives, but this song reminds us of the value of taking our time and not rushing.
The song that changed my life
I am extremely grateful to Andrew Lloyd Webber for suggesting that I produce my song “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.” The entire process from our initial meeting to the final recording with Nigel Wright only took two days. As I watched the song climb the charts, it reminded me of how my brother and I used to eagerly follow the weekly radio charts. And to top it all off, the song was number one on the charts on my wedding day in September 1990. I must say, I am a fortunate fellow indeed.
The tune that motivates me to start my day.
I am always energized and ready to start my day when I listen to “Young at Heart” by the Bluebells. Having a youthful attitude means finding humor in life’s quirks and appreciating the little things, like the beauty of a sunrise.
is “Hallelujah”
I would like “Hallelujah” to be played during my funeral.
During my brother Martin’s funeral, we chose the song “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” by the Hollies. Martin’s life was a source of inspiration for me, as he faced his learning difficulties with determination and showed us all unconditional love despite having Down’s syndrome. I often reflect on the idea that the extra chromosome associated with Down’s syndrome is a chromosome of love, and there can never be too much love in the world, can there?
