The cause of death for Sinéad O’Connor has been determined to be natural by a coroner.

The Southwark coroner’s court in London, where the musician was residing at the time of her passing, released a concise statement stating that Ms. O’Connor’s cause of death was natural. As a result, the coroner’s office has concluded their investigation into her death.

O’Connor died in July last year, aged 56. After responding to reports of an “unresponsive woman” in Herne Hill, south London, police said at the time they were not treating the death as suspicious.

The passing of O’Connor evoked an emotional response from fans, including Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar, who expressed that her music was adored globally and her talent was unparalleled. President Michael D Higgins praised O’Connor’s one-of-a-kind abilities and strong bond with her audience, who all held deep love and affection for her.

In the previous month, O’Connor had recorded a video in her flat in Herne Hill, mentioning that she had recently relocated there and planned to create new music.

Throughout her professional journey, O’Connor achieved worldwide success with her rendition of Prince’s Nothing Compares 2 U and reached the number one spot on album charts in both the United States and Europe with her 1990 release, I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got. She also released nine other highly praised studio albums, including her most recent one in 2014 titled I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss.

A tribute concert will be held on March 20 in New York City to honor the late Irish musicians, her and Shane MacGowan. The lineup includes Cat Power and David Gray.
