Rob Halford, the iconic vocalist of Judas Priest known for his versatile range from piercing falsetto to powerful declarations, will be responding to your inquiries as the band prepares to drop their latest album, Invincible Shield.

Halford’s affiliation with the Midlands collective dates back to nearly their inception. They became a member in 1973 and produced their first album, Rocka Rolla, the following year. Throughout the rest of the 1970s, they were somewhat overshadowed by the rise of punk rock. However, they were able to establish a unique presence in the emerging movement of British heavy metal, thanks in large part to Halford’s dramatic stage presence and the band’s highly influential appearance, defined by studded leather and S&M fashion.

In 1980, they rose to the Top 5 in the UK with their album British Steel, establishing them as metal icons of that decade. Their high-energy sound had a significant impact on the development of thrash and speed metal, even as they themselves adopted a more polished style. Lead singer Halford departed in the 90s, but their success continued. Halford’s return in 2003 marked the beginning of a prosperous second era for the band, with four increasingly popular albums and a return to the Top 5 in 2018 with Firepower. During his time away from the band, Halford pursued three side projects – Fight, 2wo, and Halford – and publicly came out as gay. He later shared with the Guardian that it was a liberating decision for him.
