Lewis Capaldi extends touring break as his health improves: ‘I want to make absolutely sure I’m 100%’

Lewis Capaldi stated that he plans to persist in taking some time for self-care, following his six-month break from touring which has resulted in better health.

In June, the Scottish musician stated that he would be pausing his tour for an indefinite period due to vocal issues he experienced during a performance at Glastonbury. During this show, the audience joined in to sing the last songs when he faced difficulties with his voice.

On the evening of New Year’s Eve, he took to Instagram to share a detailed update with his followers. He revealed that he is currently collaborating with a team of skilled experts to improve his understanding and management of his Tourette’s and anxiety. He also expressed that the progress has been positive so far.

I am pleased to announce that I have observed a significant improvement in both areas since I chose to take a break in June.

The 27-year-old artist behind Someone You Loved announced that he will be dropping an expanded edition of his second album Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, which will include five new tracks, on Monday.

“At the moment, I will continue to prioritize my self-care and possibly work on composing music while also taking some time to contemplate the most extraordinary years of my life,” stated Capaldi.

I want to ensure that I am completely ready before returning to perform more shows and pursuing my greatest passion. These songs hold great significance to me and I would be devastated if I couldn’t share them. I hope this satisfies you until we can gather and sing them together in the near future.

He expressed gratitude towards his fans for their support and mentioned that their response has been unlike anything he’s ever experienced. This has only fueled his excitement to resume doing what he loves in the near future.

Earlier this year, Capaldi delved into the impact of fame on his mental and physical well-being in the Netflix documentary “Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now.”

The documentary won a National Television award in the authored category and has also been nominated for a Grammy for best music film.

Capaldi expressed on Sunday that if you watched my Netflix film, you may already be aware of this. I was extremely afraid of letting you down and not meeting expectations, and to be honest, I was scared the whole project would be a failure.

“Thanks to all of you, this album’s songs continue to resonate with many of you even though I haven’t been actively promoting or touring. It is truly mind-blowing and means the world to me.”

The song “Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent” sold 95,000 units in its first week and held the record for the biggest opening of the year until Taylor Swift released her re-recorded album 1989.
