Joni Mitchell has also decided to make her music available on Spotify, following in the footsteps of Neil Young.

After a period of over two years, Joni Mitchell’s music is now available on Spotify again. This decision comes after her initial departure from the streaming platform in support of Neil Young’s protest against its hosting of anti-vaccination content.

Mitchell did not offer any remarks regarding the re-release of her music. However, this decision coincides with Young’s announcement to make his music available on Spotify again, following the platform’s termination of its exclusive agreement with Joe Rogan’s podcast. Young, along with 270 experts in the medical field, had accused the podcast of promoting false information regarding Covid vaccines.

Starting in February, The Joe Rogan Experience podcast is now accessible on various other platforms such as Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and Amazon Music.

Young stated that he has returned to using Spotify in light of Apple and Amazon offering similar podcast features that he previously opposed on the platform. He explains that he cannot just leave these services like he did with Spotify because it would limit the availability of his music to listeners. Therefore, he has decided to go back to using Spotify.

The well-known music enthusiast expressed disappointment with the poor sound quality offered on Spotify. They expressed hope that the millions of Spotify users would still enjoy their songs, despite the lack of the full sound that was originally created. Additionally, they urged the service to add a high-definition option, similar to competitors Qobuz and Tidal.

Mitchell’s recent actions mark a rejuvenated stage in her professional life. In July 2022, she made her return to performing live after experiencing an aneurysm in 2015. Just last month, she graced the Grammy stage for the first time, and earlier this week, she joined Brandi Carlile and Annie Lennox in a cover of “I’m Still Standing” at the Gershwin prize ceremony honoring Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Mitchell was also a recipient of the Gershwin prize in the previous year.
