The organizers of the Reading and Leeds festivals have revealed the main performers for 2024, including newcomers Fred Again, Lana Del Rey, and Gerry Cinnamon as headliners.
Fred Again’s appearance marks his progression from behind-the-scenes pop producer to popular underground dance artist and now to a well-known mainstream name. He recently headlined at Parklife festival and drew one of the largest crowds at Glastonbury 2023 with his performance on the Other stage. He, along with fellow artists Four Tet and Skrillex, stepped in last minute to take the place of Frank Ocean as the headliner for Coachella earlier this year. He has announced that his only performances at UK festivals in 2024 will be at Reading and Leeds.
Despite starting late due to her hair taking a long time, Lana Del Rey impressed as a performer at this year’s Glastonbury festival. A highly praised Guardian review gave her a five-star rating, calling her performance “compelling and brilliant” and highlighting her as one of the best pop stars in the world. Her tour for her album “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” is ongoing and the album has been nominated for a Grammy award in 2024.
Gerry Cinnamon is returning to the Reading and Leeds festival for the first time since 2021. In a statement, he expressed his excitement saying, “Last time was an incredible experience. It was my first gig after lockdown and it was very emotional. Now, as a headliner, we’ll take it to the next level. I’m thrilled to be back and can’t wait to see you all there.” During the time between his last appearance and now, Cinnamon’s popularity has only grown. He is now a stadium-filling artist in his home country of Scotland, with plans to perform two nights at Glasgow’s Hampden Park in 2022 and a series of outdoor concerts elsewhere. This announcement has fans eagerly anticipating a possible third studio album next year, following the success of his 2020 album “The Bonny” which reached number one on the charts.
Three new acts will be accompanied by three long-standing performers at Reading and Leeds: Liam Gallagher (performing Oasis’s album Definitely Maybe in its entirety), Catfish and the Bottlemen, who headlined in 2021, and Blink-182, who were the main act in 2010 and 2014. Other artists confirmed for lower slots on the lineup include Raye, Skrillex, Spiritbox, and Digga D.
Tickets for the festivals will be available for purchase on Thursday, November 30 at 8:30am. The festivals will be held from August 21 to 25.
