A man has been accused of harassing and stalking outside the residence of singer Taylor Swift.

A 33-year-old male has been taken into custody and accused of harassment and stalking following reports of strange behavior near the residence of Taylor Swift in New York City.

David Crowe, a resident of Seattle, Washington, was taken into custody on Monday. According to a statement from the New York police, multiple individuals alerted the officers to an emotionally unstable man causing trouble at the scene. Upon witnessing the man’s harassing behavior towards several individuals, the officers arrested him without any additional issues. No injuries were reported. Crowe is facing two charges each of harassment and stalking.

During that time, Swift was not at the property as she was in Buffalo, upstate New York, watching her boyfriend Travis Kelce play American football.

Over the weekend, there was a second occurrence near her residence, where a man was taken into custody on Saturday after witnesses claimed he tried to enter Taylor Swift’s townhouse in Tribeca. The man had neglected to respond to a notice for an unrelated incident and was subsequently charged. The New York City police have not verified if the attempted break-in and the stalking accusations are connected, but both occurrences are said to involve the same person.

Many individuals have attempted to target Swift’s homes in New York and other locations in recent times. One instance in 2018 involved a Florida man named Roger Alvarado, who tried to enter her New York residence with a shovel. Two months later, Alvarado successfully broke in and made use of her shower and bed. He was imprisoned for nine months, but upon his release, he broke in again and was sentenced to two to four years in prison.

In the year 2020, Eric Swarbrick, a man from Texas, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for sending threatening letters to Swift’s previous record label. In 2022, Morgan Mank, from Virginia, drove his car into Swift’s New York building while under the influence and tried to enter before being apprehended. That same year, a protection order was issued against Joshua Christian, a resident of Brooklyn, for repeatedly visiting her homes in New York and Tennessee.

In June 2023, Mitchell Taebel, a man from Indiana, was taken into custody and accused of stalking, intimidating, invading privacy, and harassing Taylor Swift. This was after he sent her a series of threatening messages and showed up outside her Nashville residence. In July 2023, Kimberly Meyer was arrested outside her Rhode Island residence after being previously instructed to stay away from it.

In a 2019 article for Elle magazine, Swift discussed the emotional impact of being stalked and how it has affected her personal life. She now carries a QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, typically used for gunshot or stab wounds, due to her fear of violence. She also expressed frustration with websites and tabloids publishing her past home addresses, which has resulted in an increase in stalkers trying to break into her home. Despite this, Swift chooses to focus on the positive aspects of the world and maintain faith in humanity. She believes in living bravely and not letting fear dictate her life.
