Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are currently in talks regarding a potential loan agreement for Jadon Sancho to go back to the Bundesliga team. The player is eager to make the move, having been without any game time for over four months.
Discussions revolve around the terms of a loan payment and salary compensation, as a temporary transfer seems to be the only viable option for Dortmund. The German club had previously sold Sancho to United for a starting price of £73m back in July 2021. However, Sancho has not been able to play since his public criticism of Erik ten Hag in early September. United’s manager has requested an apology from the 23-year-old and has excluded him from the main team.
Sancho was not included in the lineup for the 3-1 loss against Arsenal, and Ten Hag stated that it was due to his failure to meet training expectations. Shortly after, Sancho took to social media to refute this explanation as “completely false” and accused the team of using him as a scapegoat.
Sancho thinks that joining Dortmund would be the perfect opportunity for him to regain his top performance. He excelled during his time there for three seasons before moving to United, scoring 50 goals and giving 64 assists in 137 games. Dortmund, currently in fifth place in the Bundesliga, have made Sancho and a left-back their main targets for the January transfer window.
Sancho, who was previously practicing with United’s under-18 team, appeared as a substitute three times in August before his disagreement with Ten Hag.
