In Manchester, the current weather is terrible. It is heavily raining and the wind has been persistent. The strong performance by City this season is evident, as the team is a powerhouse. This is shown through their dominant performance. The entire team is in top form, as seen with Keating making a crucial save against a strong attempt by Roman Haig.
After 65 minutes, Liverpool is struggling to advance past their own half as they continuously pass the ball back to Micah. City is putting immense pressure on them. Kelly sends a pass into the penalty area, but it is quickly cleared by the opposition.
After 63 minutes, Hemp successfully advances into the designated area, but she is forcefully pushed away from the ball. Aleixandri falls down, but she promptly stands up again.
After 61 minutes, City is not satisfied with simply keeping possession of the ball, as they are putting on more pressure to score their fifth goal. Coombs and Shaw are substituted for Angeldahl and Fowler to make some changes.
In the past four games of the WSL, Shaw has scored a hat-trick for the third time, showcasing incredible skill. City is awarded a free kick and Greenwood steps up to take it. Although the delivery is good, Liverpool’s goalkeeper makes two important saves.
In the 57th minute, Hinds makes a careless mistake in the penalty box. Hemp takes advantage and passes to Shaw. The shot is blocked at first, but Shaw cleverly backheels it in for a goal.
Amazing, Shaw takes advantage of yet another mistake.
In the 56th minute, Liverpool made a poor decision by attempting to pass to Roman Haig instead of taking a shot earlier. Van de Sanden should have taken the shot earlier.
In the second half, Liverpool is giving their all but they have not been able to make an impact yet.
52 minutes have passed: Kelly attempts a strong long-distance shot, but it narrowly misses the goal. It was a close call for her to end her scoring dry spell. Despite this, she continues to play an important role for her team and is a crucial part of their success. However, she must be feeling frustrated by the lack of goals.
Matt Beard appears visibly frustrated on the sidelines, with his hands covering his face as he watches his team attempt to stage a comeback in the match. My wifi briefly disconnected, but it is now back up and running.
The second half began with a consistent pace, mirroring the beginning of the game.
The game has resumed. Van de Sanden and Matthews have been substituted in for Liverpool.
In other parts of the league, Chelsea defeated Manchester United 3-1 and Brighton is currently ahead of Bristol City 2-1.
These are a few of the objectives achieved in the initial half.
Liverpool had a strong beginning, with Hinds scoring first, but City swiftly answered with three goals. The next 45 minutes will be crucial, as City currently has the upper hand.
After 45 minutes and 6 minutes of added time, the ball was sent in and Shaw managed to head it. Micah appeared to have stopped it, but unfortunately it bounced off the post and went into the goal.
Nobody but Shaw.
Before halftime, Liverpool is forced to defend more as Coombs has a wide chance that he is unable to capitalize on.
Hobinger makes a quick pass into the area, but the opposing team’s defense is able to block it. City now has an opportunity with Shaw, but her shot goes over the goal. She would have been offside anyway.
Shaw is cleared to continue after 45 minutes plus an additional one minute. The game will have six extra minutes.
After 45 minutes of play, Liverpool earns a corner kick after Greenwood deflects a cross from Kearns. The ball is kicked in, but it is punched away by the goalkeeper. It appears that Shaw may have made contact with the ball, and she is now down in the penalty box, holding her head.
After 43 minutes, the pace of this game has been unpredictable. The previous few minutes were sluggish, but now it suddenly becomes lively again – this time with Liverpool taking control. However, Koivisto’s pass fails to reach a teammate.
In the 41st minute, Hinds delivers a strong cross, but Flint’s touch is not accurate and Keating is able to gather the ball.
After 39 minutes, City begins to slowly construct their attack from their own half. However, it ultimately doesn’t result in a goal as Shaw is unable to maintain control.
After 37 minutes, Hemp successfully makes another impressive run and passes the ball to Coombs, but Micah manages to save it. City is determined to score a third goal and the pressure is building. Coombs has an opportunity, but her shot narrowly misses.
After 35 minutes, Liverpool continues to make the same errors as Micah passes out of the back once more. City gains possession and Shaw comes close to scoring, narrowly missing the goal.
After 33 minutes, Liverpool once again uses a weak strategy to move the ball from their own end, with Micah passing to Nagano. However, Shaw is able to intercept the ball and score calmly.
That was overly simple.
32 minutes have passed when Kelly delivers a skillful cross, but unfortunately, no one is able to reach it. Hemp then puts it back in play, but Bonner manages to stop Shaw from heading it.
After 30 minutes, City earns a corner kick. The initial defense is strong, but the hosts regain possession and Shaw attempts to pass to a teammate. However, Liverpool successfully clears the ball.
28 min: Now it is City’s turn to have a defensive blunder as they give it away at the back, Roman Haig takes a shot but it’s well defended in the end.
After Liverpool makes another defensive mistake, Coombs attempts a long shot from far away. The away team is able to respond, but Kearns is in an offside position.
After 24 minutes, Micah leaves the goal but fails to get the ball. Kelly doesn’t immediately take advantage and Liverpool is able to regroup. Their defense successfully clears the dangerous situation.
22 minutes have passed: Liverpool has slowed down their gameplay after conceding, taking some of the intensity out of the match.
After 20 minutes, Morgan makes a beautiful pass and Bonner manages to touch it, resulting in a goal! This has made for an exciting match.
City’s response was incredible.
After falling behind, City responded effectively by applying pressure. However, Liverpool is now feeling the momentum shift and is controlling the ball well.
In just 17 minutes, City has been in complete control of the game. However, Liverpool finally had their first chance and Hinds took advantage with a one-touch finish, resulting in a magnificent goal.
Liverpool lead!
After 14 minutes, City earns a corner kick which Kelly takes short. The ball eventually enters the box but is cleared by the opposing team’s defense. City regains possession and Shaw delivers a well-placed cross, but unfortunately, there is no one present to receive it.
After 12 minutes, Koivisto faces a tough task against Coombs and Liverpool passes the ball back to their goalkeeper. Shaw impressively intercepts it and City takes two shots from Coombs and Kelly, but they are both stopped.
After being involved in an early challenge, Casparij was substituted and replaced by Morgan for the next 10 minutes.
Casparij is currently off the field due to an injury sustained from a previous challenge with Kearns, resulting in a pause in the game.
In the 8th minute of the game, Hasegawa delivered a fantastic pass to Kelly, who then passed it into the box. However, Liverpool’s defense is currently holding strong. City is increasing their intensity and putting pressure on Liverpool.
Kelly has been unable to score in the past seven games, so she will be eager to make a difference in this match. The City team is displaying good ball movement, and Hemp makes a strong run, but Clark is able to successfully challenge her and regain possession.
Kelly attempted to locate Shaw, but she was intercepted before the pass could be completed. The Liverpool defense is performing well in the beginning of the game.
Neither team has shown much momentum in the first two minutes of the game as they adjust to the playing field.
The game has begun at Joie Stadium. City is expected to win, but Liverpool has the potential to surprise.
The players have taken the field and the game is about to begin. Who will come out victorious?

In Chelsea’s match against Manchester United, Lauren James scored three goals. With less than five minutes remaining, it appears that United will have to delay their victory over their rivals once again, as they have never been able to defeat them in the past.
The manager of Liverpool, Matt Beard, stated that he believes Man City has been the top team in the WSL this season. However, their previous matches against them have been challenging and they are eagerly anticipating the upcoming game on Sunday, which is expected to be thrilling.
Gareth Taylor, manager of Manchester City, expressed in preparation for the upcoming match, “Their performance continues to improve and their transfers have been successful. It will be a challenging game for us, without a doubt. We have faced them frequently lately and we must excel in all aspects to achieve victory in this match.”
The WSL resumed on Friday and there was also a game yesterday, take a look at the highlights:
In the previous match between Chelsea and Manchester United, the Blues are currently ahead with a score of 2-1. Lauren James scored two controlled finishes while Hayley Ladd added a nice goal. Welcome to our live coverage of the Women’s Super League match between Manchester City and Liverpool.
The team from City is performing well in the current league season, with only two losses and a total of 22 points. A victory today would narrow the distance between them and Chelsea, the top-ranked team, but they will be facing a strong Liverpool squad.
Prior to the WSL hiatus, Liverpool dealt a hit by defeating Manchester United 2-1. If they secure a victory today, the Reds could potentially move up into the top four, depending on the outcome of the Chelsea versus United match.
Stay tuned for the upcoming team news announcement, where I will provide updates on all the other matches as well.
