Manchester City’s goalkeeper Ederson will miss Sunday’s final Premier League game and the FA Cup final after sustaining an eye socket fracture against Tottenham.
The Brazilian was forced off during the victory at Spurs on Tuesday which put the club on the verge of an unprecedented fourth successive title. Scans have confirmed Ederson sustained a small fracture to the right eye socket in a collision with Cristian Romero.
Despite concerns at the time, it is understood the 30-year-old did not suffer a concussion. Ederson initially tried to play on after receiving lengthy treatment but was withdrawn by Pep Guardiola a few minutes later.
Stefan Ortega replaced Ederson and made important saves in City’s 2-0 win. He is poised to play on Sunday at home to West Ham, when a City victory would guarantee the title, and against Manchester United in the Cup final.
