According to prosecutors, law enforcement officials confiscated a total of 72 guns from the residence of renowned French actor Alain Delon, who lacks a permit for any of them.
Police discovered over 3,000 rounds of ammo and a firing range at the rural residence of the performer in Douchy-Montcorbon, located 84 miles (135km) to the south of Paris.
According to local prosecutor Jean-Cédric Gaux, Delon, 88, is not authorized to possess a firearm.
The actor portrayed armed gang members in many of his well-known movies, such as Borsalino. He is recognized for originating the Hollywood archetype of the enigmatic, intellectual assassin in the 1967 film The Samurai.
Due to a stroke in 2019, Delon’s health has suffered significantly and he has now become the focus of a growing family dispute.
A judge was alerted by a court-appointed official who discovered a weapon in the individual’s home, prompting a search to be conducted.
Since the 1990s, Delon has made very few on-screen appearances and his most recent significant public appearance was when he received an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
In September 2021, he did attend the funeral of his friend and colleague Jean-Paul Belmondo in Paris.
In the previous month, Delon’s youngest son submitted a grievance against his sister, accusing her of taking advantage of Delon’s vulnerability.
The disagreement became public when Anthony Delon, Delon’s eldest son, stated in an interview with Paris Match magazine that his father was in a frail condition.
According to Delon senior’s lawyer, he expressed shock at the situation and plans to take legal action for defamation.
Last year, there were initial worries regarding him, as his three kids submitted a report against his ex-live-in assistant Hiromi Rollin, alleging her of misconduct and intimidating actions.
Delon is believed to have a net worth in the millions. In June, he auctioned off approximately 80 pieces of artwork for over €8m (£6.8m).
