During a recent appearance on the New Year’s Eve Live show with hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, actor Jeremy Renner discussed his journey to recovery after a serious snowplow accident last year. Renner is best known for his role in the popular Avengers movie series.
The 52-year-old actor from Marvel who plays Hawkeye suffered over 30 broken bones and serious injuries in an accident on January 1, 2023. During his recovery, he shared his appreciation with Cooper and Cohen, giving special thanks to his 10-year-old daughter and family. He also acknowledged the potential impact the accident could have had on their lives had he not survived.
The Marvel actor stated that they had a strong motivation to fight for, and they viewed their recovery as a singular path forward. They found solace in their recovery because it allowed them to provide relief to their loved ones, including their daughter and those they had impacted.
In early January 2023, Renner was admitted to the hospital in critical condition due to severe chest and orthopedic injuries after being run over by his Sno-Cat machine. He was attempting to assist his nephew in freeing his car from the snow near his home in Lake Tahoe when the Sno-Cat started to move. Despite his efforts to stop it from hitting his nephew, the machine ended up crushing the actor.
Renner revealed that his mindset was a key factor in his journey towards healing.
Renner stated that he had never considered his own physical ailments, pain, or anguish. He had a strong determination to fight for various things, and this mindset led him down the path of recovery with the sole goal of getting better. He believes there is no other choice but to strive for improvement.
The performer utilized social media to inform his followers about his improvement, sharing clips of himself walking for the first time with the help of an anti-gravity treadmill and utilizing a knee scooter for mobility.
Renner implied that he was prepared to resume his acting career by sharing an Instagram story featuring himself and Emma Laird, his co-star from the show Mayor of Kingstown, on set.
