Another performer has submitted a formal accusation against Gérard Depardieu, asserting that the renowned French actor sexually attacked her while filming the 2007 movie Disco.
The complete details of Hélène Darras’s accusations against the French celebrity will be revealed on the French investigative program Complément d’Enquête on Thursday night.
At the age of 26, Darras appeared as a contestant in a dance competition in the comedy film, Disco, where Depardieu was also a co-star.
In an interview snippet, Darras described Depardieu’s actions as treating him like an object. He mentioned that Depardieu approached him and ran his hand over his hips and buttocks.
According to reports, he then invited her to his dressing room. Darras declined, but it did not stop him from groping her during breaks.
Darras explained that she chose not to report the actor back then because she was afraid it would result in her being “blacklisted”. She was just an extra and had not completed her theatre training yet, but she had a strong desire to pursue acting.
Investigators are currently examining the complaint and considering whether to take legal action against Depardieu, despite the possibility that it may be prevented by France’s statute of limitations.
In 2018, Charlotte Arnould, an actor, made allegations of rape against another actor. The accused has denied all accusations and the case is currently in the process of being resolved in court.
In May of this year, the journalism site Médiapart released a comprehensive article outlining accusations made by 13 women. Two of these allegations were also part of a probe conducted by French radio station France Inter.
In October 2023, Depardieu published a letter in the French newspaper Le Figaro to defend himself against the charges made against him. He vehemently denied any wrongdoing and stated that he has never mistreated a woman. Despite facing public scrutiny and criticism, he stands by his innocence and has only his own words as a defense against the media’s accusations.
He stated that he is not a rapist or predator, but due to the allegations, he will not be participating in any projects.
