Novak Djokovic beats Holger Rune at ATP Finals: as it happened

Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic.

Rune is undeniably an exceptional player and promising prospect. However, his greatest asset may be his unwavering belief that he is the best player of all time, a conviction that has likely not been weakened by the addition of Boris Becker as his coach. Therefore, he will not be intimidated by going up against the second best player ever, who needed three sets to defeat him in Paris just last week. If Rune’s powerful game is on point, this match is sure to be entertaining.

Novak Djokovic, however, remains Novak Djokovic; there is simply no comparison to his one-of-a-kind talent that has never been witnessed in any other sport. It is highly probable that he will easily fend off any challenge from Rune and swiftly defeat the competition, solidifying his three-Slam season by successfully defending this title. He may even laugh at the incredible level of his skill and modesty. But let’s not count out Rune: he truly believes he can achieve this and if, for some reason, Djokovic is not performing at his best – I know, it’s hard to imagine – then Rune has a good chance of making an impact.

Game starts at 9pm in the local time zone and 8pm in GMT.
