However, the atmosphere at the stadium has been lackluster throughout the season. The audience becomes anxious whenever Pochettino’s team, who are behind 1-0, face difficulties in overcoming resilient opponents.
Pochettino believes that the perceived disconnect between the players and fans is a result of the challenges faced in the previous season and existed even before he became head coach in the summer of last year. This is supported by Chelsea’s performance after replacing Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter in September 2022. They were only able to win seven more home games before the end of the season, which concluded with Frank Lampard as interim manager.
Pochettino stated that we are currently experiencing the consequences of 18 months ago. As we have only been here for six months, it can be challenging for us to make comparisons. However, we have been achieving better results now. The fans may still be disappointed from last season, but we are content with our performance at Stamford Bridge.

Our fans are incredibly loyal and have a strong desire for victory, as winning is ingrained in Chelsea’s legacy. Last season, we were greatly disappointed by our numerous home losses, which naturally led to a decrease in morale.
If Chelsea were to defeat Boro, currently ranked 11th in the Championship, it would mark their first appearance in a final since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. The players were so disheartened that they just wanted to leave and go home, but it’s important to acknowledge the dedication of the fans.

Christopher Nkunku is still unable to play due to a hip injury he sustained on 30 December. Malo Gusto, the right-back, is also out due to a muscle issue. There is a possibility that Ben Chilwell will take his place at left-back.
