Klopp has extended an invitation to Eriksson to serve as Liverpool’s manager for one day, stating “He is more than welcome.”

Jurgen Klopp would be happy to have Sven-Goran Eriksson join Liverpool, allowing the Swede to fulfill his wish of being the club’s manager for a day, following his terminal cancer diagnosis.

There have been requests for Eriksson to lead the team for a Liverpool Legends game against Ajax in March. Despite being a 75-year-old Liverpool fan, he has never had the chance to manage the club during his extensive career, which included stints as manager for England, Lazio, and Manchester City, among others.

Klopp mentioned that he was informed about the individual’s long-standing support and fondness for Liverpool. He extended an invitation for the person to visit and even offered for them to take his place in his office for a day. Klopp expressed excitement at the opportunity to show the individual the growth and development of the club over the years and assured them of a pleasant experience during their visit.

Klopp will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Dominik Szoboszlai at Bournemouth on Sunday but will be relieved that Mohamed Salah’s injury suffered with Egypt is not serious.

On Friday, it was announced that Salah sustained a hamstring injury during Egypt’s game against Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations. He will not be able to play in his country’s next two matches, but Egypt believes he will be able to return if they advance past the round of 16. There were concerns that Salah could be out for a longer period of time for both his club and country. Before the full extent of the injury was known, Klopp expressed shock and worry. He stated, “It was a moment of shock: ‘Oh my God, what is it?’ We all know how rarely Mo goes off or needs to go off, so there is definitely something going on and we will have to wait and see.”

Due to injury worries, several young players from the academy have bolstered the team’s depth and allowed the club to avoid making transfers. Klopp specifically mentioned Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah when evaluating his choices.

“At the beginning of the pre-season, Klopp noticed that the team seemed prepared from the very first game. There’s always a demand to purchase a right-back for Trent to move into midfield, or a centre-half. However, with the presence of Conor and Jarell, Klopp believes that if they had bought new players for those positions, these talented boys would not have had the opportunity to showcase their abilities.”

On Sunday, Klopp will face Andoni Iraola for the third time, having previously defeated his team 3-1 in the league and 2-1 in the Carabao Cup at Bournemouth. Iraola’s team has only lost one of their last eight league matches, a significant improvement from their initial nine games under former coach Gary O’Neil. Klopp praised Bournemouth’s recent success, stating that their bravery and hard work paid off. He also expressed respect for the impact a coach can have on a team’s performance.
